Why should your child be under chiropractic care?
The most traumatic experience that we all go through is the birthing process. There is a lot of twisting and pulling on the head and neck to get the baby out, even with a cesarean section. This process can lead to the first subluxation that will compromise the nervous system.
Chiropractic care is not just for adults. In fact, more and more parents are seeing the many benefits of their children seeing a chiropractor every single day. Some of the benefits are improved sleep, improved behavior and attitude, and improved immune system function. Children encounter many physical stresses in their life that you may not realize. These stresses can cause your child’s spine to have issues in growth and development.
Does your child have an oral tie?
Dr. MacKenzie works closely with lactation consultants and pediatric dentists to help identify and care for tethered oral ties. Sometimes the tightened oral tissue can be due to cranial bone misalignments that are residual from the birthing process or from tightened muscles in the mouth that create an imbalance and cause a poor latching pattern.
Dr. MacKenzie will do a spinal, cranial, and intraoral evaluation to determine where the issues are presenting and what the root cause is. Chiropractic care has been known to help resolve the issues tightened oral ties can cause without having to get the oral ties surgically released. However, some oral ties do need to be released for maximum benefit and future development. Working with a team of professionals well versed in the care of oral ties will be the best for your baby!
If a release of oral tissue is necessary (a laser is ideally used), chiropractic care is crucial before and after the release to ensure proper motor function of the tongue. By releasing the tethered tissue, your child will have a whole new tongue! Chiropractic care will ensure that your child will develop a proper motor function pattern that is efficient and promotes optimal development.
